The Sparkle Project
(Formerly Worthy Mother Podcast)
The Sparkle Project is a feminist podcast for moms who are done carrying the weight of motherhood alone and are ready to connect with who they truly are - their sparkle, if you will.
So many of us feel overwhelmed not because we’re failing, but because we’re mothering inside a patriarchal system that expects us to give endlessly, stay quiet, and lose ourselves in the process. This space challenges those outdated expectations and embraces a more empowered, more supported, more self-honoring version of motherhood.
Hosted by Emily Rose MacDonald, a divorced mom of two on her own journey to shine a little brighter, each episode explores the realities of modern motherhood through a feminist lens that values equity, autonomy, mental health, and the humanity of moms.
You’ll hear conversations about identity, mental health, self-care, healing, and the many ways we can reclaim ourselves in a world that often overlooks the needs of mothers.
If you’re a mom who believes we deserve more than survival, and that our culture has to evolve for moms to truly thrive, you’re in the right place.

How to Address Shame In Motherhood with Kyira Wackett
Shame is a complex feeling that shows up often for so many mothers - and yet it's not something we can just do away with. This week, I'm joined by licensed mental health therapist Kyira Wackett to explore the link between shame and motherhood and how we can work to develop shame resilience to live a more values-driven life.
In the episode, Kyira and I discuss:
- The function of shame, and why the goal is not to eliminate shame all together
- Exploring where our shame comes from
- How shame shows up specifically in motherhood
- Shifting from shame-driven to values-driven living
- The paralysis that comes with anxiety and shame that is not being processed
- How we can actively develop shame resilience
A little about our guest:
Kyira Wackett is a licensed mental health therapist specializing in shame and anxiety. She is the owner of Adversity Rising, a company who equips people with the confidence and skills to write their own stories. Her work ranges from one on one coaching to corporate wellness packages with a focus on what she calls the anti-band-aid movement or resisting the quick fix in favor of doing the work necessary to make meaningful and sustainable change. The highlight of her work is her signature program, That Life AR, where she walks people through her 5-step therapeutic process she believes can combat any pain point that comes our way because we all deserve to live a life in which we can thrive.
